    Brass Grades Explained

CW grades, leaded and lead-free brass.

    CW614N (CuZn39Pb3)

The free-cutting brass benchmark with outstanding machinability for high-speed turning of fittings, fasteners and components.

    CW617N (CuZn40Pb2)

Hot-stamping and hot-forging brass, the standard grade for valves, water fittings and forged components.

    CW602N (CuZn36Pb2As)

Dezincification-resistant (DZR) brass, arsenic-inhibited, ideal for potable water systems and aggressive waters.

    CW724R (CuZn21Si3P)

Lead-free silicon brass with high strength, excellent machinability, drinking-water approved across EU, UBA and 4MS.

    CW726R (CuZn21Si3P low-Pb)

Premium lead-free brass for sanitary fittings. UBA-listed and DM/4MS-compliant water contact material.

    CW727R (CuZn42)

Lead-free hot-stamping brass, an emerging alternative for valves, sanitary fittings and forged plumbing components.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Brass: frequently asked.

Which brass grade is best for water fittings in the GCC?

For potable water systems we recommend CW602N (DZR) or lead-free CW724R / CW725R. They resist dezincification in chloride-rich Gulf waters and comply with UBA, 4MS and DIN 50930-6, the references most GCC water authorities follow.

What is the difference between CW614N and CW617N brass?

CW614N (CuZn39Pb3) is the reference free-cutting brass for machining, with outstanding turning and milling performance. CW617N (CuZn40Pb2) is the hot-stamping and forging grade, the standard for valves, water fittings and forged components.

    Do you supply lead-free brass?

Yes, we supply CW724R, CW725R, CW726R and CW727R lead-free brass in rods, hollow rods, billets, ingots and finished forms, with full UBA, 4MS, DM and NSF-61 traceability where required.

    What is DZR brass?

Dezincification-resistant brass is an arsenic-inhibited alpha-brass that resists the selective leaching of zinc in aggressive waters. CW602N is the benchmark grade, mandatory in many UK, EU and GCC potable water specifications.

Brass or bronze: which should I use?

Brass (Cu-Zn) is the better choice for fittings, valves, decorative work and electrical applications, easier to machine and lower cost. Bronze (Cu-Sn) is preferred for marine and heavy-duty bearing applications where seawater resistance and wear performance matter most.

Can TIC Dubai supply mill test certificates and EN 1982 documentation?

Yes, every brass product ships with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates and, for casting ingots, EN 1982 chemical and mechanical compliance documentation. Additional UBA, 4MS and DZR certification is available on request.

Do you keep stock in Dubai?

TIC Dubai is a mill representation and international procurement company. Rather than holding warehouse stock, we coordinate factory-direct shipments sized to your project and consolidate deliveries against your programme.

Can I buy a few sheets or a single length?

Our supply model is built around container-load and project quantities. For small retail requirements, a local stockist will serve you faster; for bulk, project or recurring procurement, we're the right partner.

Do you supply containers directly from the factory?

Yes. Every enquiry is quoted mill-direct, with forward production booking, third-party inspection and shipment coordinated by our procurement team, from FOB origin through to your discharge port.

    Can you support recurring procurement?

Yes. Long-term supply agreements and forward production bookings are the core of what we do for importers, contractors, distributors and EPC firms across the GCC and wider Middle East.

    What is your minimum order?

Typically one FCL container per specification, though this varies by product and mill. Share your requirement and we'll confirm the mill's MOQ, lead time and indicative pricing.
