Spruce Timber Supply to Egypt
CFR Alexandria · Damietta · Port Said · 35–60 days origin to Egyptian port · One 40' container.
European spruce is a core softwood species for Egyptian workshops, furniture producers and construction buyers. TIC Dubai supplies kiln-dried spruce direct from European sawmills in container loads to Egyptian ports.
Sections, lengths and grades are matched to the buyer's application, from construction-grade timber for site consumption to KD-planed material for furniture and joinery.
Spruce Timber in the Egyptian market
European spruce is a core softwood species in the Egyptian market. Workshops, furniture producers, door and window frame makers, pallet manufacturers and construction traders all consume spruce in meaningful volume. The Egyptian trade often groups spruce with fir under the 'whitewood' label, and both ship interchangeably where the specification allows.
Demand centres are Cairo, Alexandria, Damietta furniture cluster, 10th of Ramadan and 6th of October industrial zones, plus regional traders across the governorates. Buyers value consistent kiln-drying, defined grading and reliable section availability more than any single origin story.
TIC Dubai ships kiln-dried European spruce direct from Northern and Central European sawmills in full container loads to Alexandria, Damietta and Port Said on CFR terms.
Who imports spruce timber from TIC into Egypt
Small and mid-sized workshops producing furniture components, internal doors and mouldings from KD spruce in mixed sections.
Serial producers of interior door frames and traditional Egyptian shutters requiring stable, straight-grained spruce in defined sections.
Pallet plants consuming construction-grade spruce sections for both domestic and export packaging.
Traders supplying spruce to construction sites for temporary works, shuttering supports and site consumption.
Distributors across Egyptian governorates running mixed-section containers to supply local hardware and timber shops.
Typical specifications shipped to Egypt
Moisture content matters more than any other single spec for Egyptian buyers. KD 12–18% is standard; workshops targeting fine furniture request tighter 10–14% and this is stated at PI stage.
Grades follow Nordic Timber Grading Rules: Unsorted (I–IV combined) and V grade dominate workshop orders; VI is common for site-consumption and pallet production.
Fixed lengths carry a modest premium versus random lengths; large distributor orders usually take random lengths for best per-cubic-metre economics.

How spruce timber is specified on Egyptian projects
25–50 mm KD spruce sections planed or sawn, dried to 12–15%, used for furniture rails, drawer sides and internal joinery.
Straight-grained V-grade spruce in 50 × 100 mm and similar sections used for door jambs, window frames and traditional Egyptian shutter production.
Construction-grade spruce in 22, 25 and 32 mm boards feeds Egyptian pallet plants producing both domestic and export packaging units.
Construction-grade sections used on site for shuttering supports, walkways and temporary structures on active projects.
Regional distributors run mixed containers of common sections and lengths to serve site-order buyers across the governorates.
CFR discharge options for spruce timber
Primary discharge for European sailings. Highest frequency and best inland logistics for Cairo and Delta workshops.
Chosen where the buyer's operations are Delta-based or the clearing agent operates a Damietta yard.
Used for direct Northern European sailings via Suez transhipment when lead-time is the priority.

How shipments are booked, loaded and sent to Egypt
A 40' container carries approximately 55–65 m³ of sawn spruce depending on section and packing. Volume varies with pack length uniformity and stowage discipline.
Timber ships in strapped packs, weather-protected, floor-loaded or on gluts inside the container. Length distribution is stated on the packing list for the buyer's stock planning.
For mixed-section orders, the mill preps packs by section and marks each pack for easy sorting at the buyer's yard.
What accompanies every spruce timber shipment
Every sawmill is pre-qualified on grading discipline, kiln-drying quality and dimensional accuracy. The invoice and packing list state grade, section, length distribution and moisture content.
Phytosanitary and fumigation certification is issued per shipment where required for Egyptian entry.
Third-party pre-shipment inspection can be arranged for buyers running strict acceptance on incoming timber.
Forward bookings, OEM and mill representation
Forward mill bookings: distributors and serial-production buyers reserve mill capacity across the European sawmilling season to smooth pricing and secure grade allocation.
OEM / private label: mill-branded packing and bespoke pack lengths are possible on larger orders.
Mill representation: TIC represents multiple European sawmills, giving Egyptian buyers access to competing origins under one commercial relationship.
Frequently asked about spruce timber for Egypt
Is European spruce the same as whitewood?
Yes. In trade terminology whitewood usually refers to European spruce (Picea abies), often shipped alongside similar-grade fir.
What moisture content should I specify?
Kiln-dried 12–18% is standard for shipment to Egypt. Lower moisture (10–12%) is available for high-end furniture applications.
Which grades are most requested by Egyptian importers?
Unsorted (I–IV combined) and V grade are the most common for general workshop consumption. Construction grades are shipped for site use.
Can lengths be specified as fixed?
Yes. Fixed-length parcels are quoted at a modest premium versus random lengths. Random length parcels give the most economic per-cubic-metre pricing.
How is spruce packed for CFR Egypt shipments?
Timber is strapped into weather-protected packs, floor-loaded or on gluts inside a 40' container. Fumigation certificates are provided where required.
Do you supply planed (PSE / PAR) spruce?
Yes. Planed sections are available for furniture and joinery applications. Sawn timber is standard for construction and pallet use.
