    Baltic Birch Plywood for Egypt

CFR Alexandria · Damietta · Port Said · 45–70 days origin to Egyptian port · One 20' or 40' container.

Baltic birch plywood is the benchmark for high-end joinery, cabinetry, fit-out and CNC-cut componentry. TIC Dubai supplies birch plywood direct from qualified Baltic mills to Egyptian joineries, fit-out contractors and specialty distributors.

Egyptian demand centres on cabinet interiors, exposed-edge design work and CNC production. Shipments move in full or mixed containers on CFR terms.

    EGYPT MARKET OVERVIEW

Birch Plywood in the Egyptian market

Baltic birch plywood occupies the premium segment of the Egyptian panel market. High-end joineries, luxury fit-out contractors, CNC producers and design furniture ateliers concentrated in New Cairo, Sheikh Zayed, Zamalek and 6th of October source birch plywood for its dense multi-ply construction, uniform edge appearance and clean-cut machining behaviour.

Egyptian birch demand has grown alongside the country's hospitality, retail and residential luxury sectors. Where MDF or standard plywood suffices for volume furniture, birch plywood is specified where the material itself is part of the finished aesthetic, exposed edges, curved millwork and structural cabinet elements.

TIC Dubai supplies Latvian, Estonian and, where compliant, Russian-origin birch plywood in container loads to Alexandria, Damietta and Port Said, with grade, glue class and origin confirmed on every PI.

    SPECIFICATIONS

    Typical specifications shipped to Egypt

    Common thicknesses
    4, 6.5, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 30 mm
    Standard sizes
    1220 × 2440 mm · 1250 × 2500 mm · 1500 × 3000 mm
    Grades
    B/BB · BB/BB · BB/CP · CP/C
    Glue
    WBP / EN 314-2 Class 3
    Origin
Latvia, Estonia, Russia (subject to compliance)

Face grade drives most of the price differential: B (clear face) is the highest common commercial grade; BB permits patched knots; CP allows more surface repair. BB/BB is the standard specification for cabinet interiors; B/BB is preferred where one face will be exposed.

Baltic birch is genuinely all-birch through the ply stack, no combi cores. That construction delivers the density and edge quality that gives Baltic birch its premium.

Glue class is critical. EN 314-2 Class 3 (WBP) is the standard for Egyptian interior joinery. Marine-grade (BS 1088 or equivalent) is available for yacht and specialty work on request.

    • Retail and hospitality fit-out
    • Marine and structural applications (BS 1088 on request)
    APPLICATION DEEP DIVE

How birch plywood is specified on Egyptian projects

    Cabinet interiors and carcass work

12–18 mm BB/BB birch for cabinet sides and shelves where exposed multi-ply edges are part of the design intent.

    Exposed-edge joinery and design furniture

B/BB grade birch on visible faces, WBP glue for durability, with the ply edge left visible and lacquered as a design feature.

    CNC-cut components and jigs

18 mm and 21 mm birch on CNC beds producing repeat parts, birch's dimensional stability suits high-precision production.

    Retail rollout and hospitality fit-out

Consistent grade birch across retail chain rollouts and hotel projects where every fixture must look identical.

    Yacht and marine interior joinery

Marine-glue birch used inside yachts and pleasure craft where humidity and vibration require a stable, moisture-tolerant panel.

    CONTAINER LOADING & PROCUREMENT

How shipments are booked, loaded and sent to Egypt

A 40' container typically carries around 45–50 m³ of birch plywood depending on thickness mix and packing. Mixed loads combining several thicknesses are the norm because joineries rarely consume a single thickness in container volumes.

Panels are strapped on skids with edge protection and shrink wrap. Oversized 1500 × 3000 mm sheets require specific skid design and are loaded with dunnage discipline.

For distributors, birch containers are frequently split-consumed over several months; grade consistency across resupply cycles is the value TIC's mill representation delivers.

    QUALITY CONTROL & MILL DOCUMENTATION

What accompanies every birch plywood shipment

Every mill is pre-qualified on face-grade honesty (no downgraded stock passed as premium), glue integrity and thickness tolerance. Mill quality certificates are issued per shipment.

For project-critical orders, third-party inspection can be arranged at load port to confirm face grade, thickness and moisture content before container seal.

For Russian-origin birch, sanction and compliance status is confirmed at the time of every quotation, the Egyptian customs treatment is generally permissive but subject to current compliance checks.

    FACTORY-DIRECT PROCUREMENT

Forward bookings, OEM and mill representation

Forward mill bookings: with Baltic capacity often the constraint, joineries and distributors that commit to forward bookings across a 3–6 month horizon secure both allocation and price stability.

OEM / private label: distributors can arrange mill-printed packing labels and bundle branding on request.

Mill representation: TIC represents multiple Baltic mills so Egyptian buyers can access the best combination of grade, lead-time and price without needing to manage multiple mill relationships directly.

    Birch Plywood · Egypt FAQ

Can birch plywood be combined with other products in one container?

Yes. Mixed containers combining birch plywood with compatible panels can be quoted subject to mill and volume feasibility.

Is Russian-origin birch acceptable to Egyptian importers?

Egyptian customs generally permit Russian-origin plywood, subject to sanction and compliance checks at the time of shipment. We confirm origin availability with every quotation.
