Tank and clarifier shutter specifications
Circular and rectangular concrete tanks in water treatment plants require smooth, watertight concrete surfaces. Film-faced plywood must release cleanly to leave a surface suitable for coating or lining. WBP hardwood-core panels with 220 g/m² film are the standard for tank walls and base slabs.
Humidity and chemical exposure
Water treatment environments are permanently humid and may expose shutters to chlorinated or chemically treated water during testing. WBP phenolic glue lines resist this exposure; MR or commercial glues do not. After stripping, clean panels immediately to prevent chemical residue from attacking the film.
Large-diameter circular tanks
Clarifiers and digesters often exceed 30 metres diameter. The curved shutters use narrow plywood strips or full panels on steel backing rings. Hardwood-core panels with uniform ply construction bend predictably and hold fasteners without splitting around the radius.
Finish requirements for coated surfaces
Many water treatment tanks receive internal epoxy or cementitious lining after concrete curing. The concrete surface must be smooth and free of shutter grain transfer to achieve proper lining adhesion. Specify 220 g/m² or 240 g/m² film and reject panels with film defects before use on tank pours.
