HMR MDF (Green / Moisture Resistant)

High Moisture Resistant Green MDF, manufactured with moisture-resistant melamine-urea-formaldehyde resin and tinted green for instant identification. The specification standard for kitchens, wardrobes, bathroom joinery and humid interior environments.

    Overview

    Technical overview.

HMR (High Moisture Resistant) MDF, universally known as Green MDF for its tinted core, is engineered for humidity. The fibres are bonded with a moisture-resistant melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resin that dramatically reduces swelling and dimensional change in wet, humid and steam-exposed environments.

Green MDF is a moisture-resistant MDF panel manufactured to the EN 622-5 MDF.H specification (and equivalent V313 cycle testing). The melamine-fortified resin reduces 24-hour thickness swell to under 8 %, compared with 15 – 25 % for raw MDF, making it the only MDF grade that should be specified for kitchens, bathrooms, vanities and any joinery exposed to humid air.

Water resistant ≠ waterproof. HMR MDF resists humidity, steam and intermittent surface moisture; it should not be permanently submerged or used in standing water.

    Standards

    Certified to international specification.

    EN 622-5
European standard for MDF, defining dry-process fibreboards, mechanical and physical requirements (general-purpose MDF and MDF.H moisture-resistant grades).
    EN 717-1
European formaldehyde emission test by chamber method. It defines E1 emission class as ≤ 0.124 mg/m³ steady-state air concentration.
    EN 321 (V313)
European cyclic moisture test for wood-based panels. A 3-cycle soak-freeze-dry sequence used to qualify HMR MDF for humid interior service.
    CARB P2
California Air Resources Board Phase 2 formaldehyde emission limit. Stricter than E1 and widely specified for premium furniture and US-market exports.
