    Hot-Dip Galvanized (GI) Coils

Hot-dip galvanized steel coil supplied to ASTM A653, EN 10346 and JIS G3302 , with commercial, lock-forming, structural and roofing grades for the UAE, GCC and African markets.

    Overview

    Technical overview.

Hot-dip galvanized coil is cold-rolled steel passed through a molten zinc bath; the zinc metallurgically bonds with the steel substrate and forms a self-healing, sacrificial barrier against corrosion. It is the most widely specified roofing and fabrication substrate in the region and the base material for both bare GI sheets and PPGI coils.

A 'GI coil' is a continuous strip of low-carbon steel that has been hot-dip galvanized on both faces under controlled line conditions. Coating mass is specified in g/m² of total zinc on both sides (Z-grade). The coil is typically supplied in widths of 600 – 1500 mm and slit, recoiled or roll-formed downstream into sheets, profiles, ducts, frames and decking.

    Applications

    Where gi coils is specified.

    • Roll-formed corrugated and trapezoidal roofing sheets
    • Steel decking & cladding panels
    • Air-conditioning ducting (HVAC) and sheet-metal fabrication
    • Door frames, partition systems & dry-wall studs
    • Light-gauge steel framing for warehouses & pre-engineered buildings
    • Pipe and tube manufacturing (CR / GI ERW)
    • Cable trays, ladders & electrical enclosures
    • Automotive panels & white-goods substrate
    Zinc Coating Reference

    Specify by zinc coating.

Zinc coating mass (g/m² total, both faces) is the primary GI variable. Match the grade to the exposure environment and project life.

    Standards

    Certified to international specification.

    ASTM A653
US standard for hot-dip zinc-coated (galvanized) steel sheet and coil, covering commercial (CS), forming (FS), deep-drawing (DDS) and structural (SS, HSLAS) grades; specifies Z coating designations from Z60 to Z550.
    EN 10346
European standard for continuously hot-dip coated steel flat products for cold forming, including Z (zinc), ZA, AZ (Galvalume) and ZM coatings on commercial, drawing, structural and HSLA substrates.
    JIS G3302
Japanese standard for hot-dip zinc-coated steel sheet and coil, widely referenced across Asian mills and exported tonnage into the Middle East.
