Aluminium Alloy 6082: European structural alloy.
The strongest 6xxx alloy in common use. The European structural-engineering benchmark for bridges, trusses, transport frames and high-load machined components.
What is Aluminium Alloy 6082?
Aluminium Alloy 6082 is the principal European structural aluminium alloy. With balanced silicon, magnesium and manganese, 6082 delivers the highest strength of any commonly available 6xxx alloy, excellent weldability and excellent machinability. It is the engineering-grade equivalent of 6061 (and slightly stronger), widely specified across European bridges, transport, marine superstructures and load-bearing CNC components.
6082 machines beautifully and welds cleanly with 4043 or 5356 filler. Heat-treatable; most stock is supplied in T6 or T651. Cold formability is moderate; bends are best performed in the O or T4 temper before ageing to T6.

How 6082 performs.
Six performance dimensions, rated 1 to 5, to help architects, fabricators and engineers specify with confidence.
Where 6082 is specified.
- Structural frames and trusses
- Bridges and high-mast assemblies
- Transport: trucks, trailers and rail
- CNC machined components
- Jigs, fixtures, tooling plate
- Cranes and load-bearing structures
- Marine superstructure framing
Advantages
- Highest strength of the common 6xxx alloys
- Excellent weldability
- Excellent machinability
- Good corrosion resistance, including marine atmosphere
- Heat-treatable to T6 and T651 tempers
Limitations
- Loses ~30 % strength in the heat-affected zone after welding
- Anodising less uniform than 6063
6082 is supplied to:
- EN 485-2
- EN 573-3
- EN 755
- ASTM B221
Supplied to customer requirement.
Alloy 6082 is available in a full range of thicknesses according to customer requirement, with cut-to-length, slitting and custom configuration on request. Mill test certificates (EN 10204 3.1) are issued with every consignment.

Marine structural plate alloy
The world's leading marine structural alloy. The highest strength of any non-heat-treatable aluminium and exceptional saltwater resistance make it the specification for hulls, cryogenic tanks and high-load marine welded structures.
Aerospace high-strength alloy
One of the strongest aluminium alloys in commercial use, with strength approaching that of mild steel at one-third the weight. Specified for aerospace, defence and high-performance components. Supplied on indent.
