Pallet Component Dimensions: Boards, Stringers, Bearers, Blocks

Five components, fifteen workhorse sections. The dimensional reference that gets the RFQ priced right the first time.

    Top deck boards

Thickness 16-22 mm, width 95-145 mm, length 800-1200 mm. The deck face that touches the load, sound and reasonably knot-free, planed or rough-sawn per spec. Pine and whitewood dominate, with KD-HT moisture content 18-22%.

    Bottom deck boards

Thickness 16-22 mm, width 95-145 mm, length 800-1200 mm. Permits more knots than top boards but must still satisfy bending strength under racked load. The cost-saver line in the pallet, often a lower visual grade than the top deck.

    Stringers (American-style two-way pallets)

Cross-section 22-38 mm × 95-145 mm, length 800-1200 mm. The longitudinal load-bearing member running between top and bottom decks. Notched for two-way fork entry on US-style pallets; full-section solid for four-way entry.

    Bearers

Cross-section 35-45 mm × 70-100 mm, length 800-1200 mm. Cross-members supporting the deck above pallet feet, sized to bridge the block spacing without sagging under load.

    Blocks

Standard EPAL dimensions 78×78×95 mm, 78×78×100 mm, 78×78×145 mm. Variants from custom pallet plants run 100×100×100, 100×145×95 and 145×145×78. Solid, finger-jointed and composite, see the dedicated block article.

    Frequently asked questions

What thickness is a typical pallet board?
Most pine pallet boards run 18-22 mm thick; lightweight one-trip pallets use 14-16 mm; heavy-duty industrial pallets go to 22-25 mm.
Are stringer pallets stronger than block pallets?
Block pallets give four-way fork entry and better load distribution; stringer pallets are cheaper but only allow two-way entry along the stringer direction.
Do you supply pallet kits unassembled?
Yes, pre-cut pallet kits (boards, stringers, blocks) are a cost-effective option for in-house pallet assembly. TIC Dubai supplies kitted components to any specification and HT-stamps the final pallet at the customer's plant or via a partner facility.
