Start with the load
Weight, dimensions, centre of gravity, fragile contact points and required tie-down points define the pallet, not the other way round. A 4-tonne transformer on a 1200×800 EPAL crushes the corner blocks; the same load on a 1500×1200 four-way custom pallet with 150×150 mm bearers is routine.
Container fill efficiency
A 40' container's internal floor is 12.03 × 2.35 m. Standard pallets leave 50-100 mm gaps; a custom 1200×1133 mm pallet fills the floor exactly (10 pallets in 2 rows, no wasted space). For high-cube cargo, the right custom footprint adds 8-15% to per-container payload, paying for the pallet many times over on a single shipment.
Entry, bearers, deck design
Four-way entry (block or notched-stringer construction) is the GCC norm for forklift handling at any modern depot. Two-way is acceptable for terminal-to-terminal flows but slows handling. Bearer count and section size are calculated from the load distribution; deck-board count from the contact area required for the load footprint.
ISPM-15 on custom builds
Every wooden component must be HT-treated and the assembled pallet stamped with the IPPC mark. TIC Dubai engineers, sources and assembles custom pallets across partner manufacturers in the UAE, Türkiye, India and Eastern Europe with full ISPM-15 documentation supplied per shipment.
