Zebrawood (Zebrano) is unmistakable - a pale golden background crossed by bold dark brown to black stripes. A statement species for feature panelling, automotive dashboards, decorative furniture and high-end veneer work.
Zebrawood's dramatic figure is most pronounced on quartersawn faces, where the contrasting stripes run parallel and straight. Flat-sawn boards show wavier striping. Most often supplied as sliced veneer for panelling and architectural work, but also available as solid lumber for furniture and turnery.
Zebrawood is dense and can be challenging to work due to its interlocked grain and tendency to tearout. Sharp tooling and light cuts are recommended. Glues and finishes well, but be aware of bleed-through when using lighter finishes - a sealer coat is recommended.
