What is the difference between light, medium and heavy class MS pipe?

The three classes denote progressively thicker wall thickness for the same nominal bore. Light class is used for low-pressure water and conduit; medium class for general plumbing; heavy class for fire mains and higher-pressure service.

Are MS pipes available galvanised?

Yes: hot-dip galvanised MS pipes (also called GI pipes) are standard for outdoor and plumbing service. Available in light, medium and heavy classes.
