    Technical reference

    What is Aluminium Alloy 5005?

Aluminium Alloy 5005 is a low-magnesium 5xxx alloy formulated specifically for anodising performance. Tight control of iron and silicon, combined with ~0.8 % magnesium, produces an exceptionally even anodic oxide with consistent colour acceptance. 5005 is the alloy architects specify when an anodised aluminium surface must look uniformly clean across an entire façade or interior fit-out.

5005 cold-forms, spins and bends easily. Welds with 4043 or 5356 filler. Anodises to a uniform clear, bronze, black or champagne finish, which is the principal reason for its selection.
